Busy, Busy Busy…….!
South Manchester Helen O'Grady
A phenomenally busy week has been had by all at SMHOG. Our new Hale Kindy class is to relocate after the half term to The Hub, Pownall Rd, Altrincham, WA14 2SZ at the side of Sainsbury’s. Classes will operate between 1.45pm and 2.30pm on Mondays starting the 4th November 2013. This is in addition to our current Kindy Class at Antz in your Pantz, Unit 8, Crown Industrial Estate, Canal Road, Timperley, Cheshire, WA14 1TD between 10.30am and 11.15am on Wednesday mornings. The Kindy Drama Classes are designed to provide confidence and self esteem to children of pre-school age between 2 to 4 years. Over time, using our programme, children develop excellent social skills and interact with their peers. The programme is unique and has been finely tuned and developed over 30 years.
On a different note we have some exciting news following some behind the scenes activity in our Casting Agency ~ Aardvark Casting South Manchester. Unfortunately we are sworn to secrecy as there is still a long way to go for those involved. We are very proud of all your efforts so far. You know who you are. You can rest assured that if we get any success in this area we will let you know as soon as possible.
As we have had a considerable influx of new students and parents, it would be a good time to let everyone know that SMHOG has a casting agency called Aardvark Casting South Manchester. As well as the South Manchester Helen O’Grady Drama Academy Facebook Page there is an Aardvark Casting South Manchester Facebook Page. If you follow the links to them and like the pages then you will get regular updates from both about new developments and other items from the academy.
In the last few months we have had some of our academy students auditioning for roles and appearing on television. A number of students registered with Aardvark Casting South Manchester appeared on the ITV’s Tonight programme and they looked and acted very professionally in front of camera. Three months ago, we had one boy get to the final auditions for a BBC production only to lose out at the last audition. Although disappointing, the boy in particular has taken great heart, confidence and self-esteem from the experience. Whatever a casting agency tells you, they cannot guarantee work. We believe the payment of a joining fee leads to false expectations of finding work for actors. We do not charge a joining fee and therefore we do not create false promises to our actors. Any fees are only taken from any earnings following work we manage to obtain on your behalf.
In fact, there is no charge to you for the publicity shot. We have regular recruitment days which we advertise through the website, and both SMHOG and Aardvark Facebook pages so, if you are interested you can either ring the office to register that interest or like one or both of the pages to see when the next date comes around. The telephone numbers for contact are 0161 929 9586 or 07595 188484. Alternatively, on both of the Facebook pages there is an “Enquire Here” Button (contact form). Just give it a click and follow the very simple instructions and we will be back in touch. Finally, you can always use the trusted email method of firstname.lastname@example.org.
