SMHOG End of Year Show Testimonial
South Manchester Helen O'Grady
In this blog post we bring you not one, but two fantastic testimonials of the South Manchester Helen O’Grady Drama Academy. These posts specifically relate to our excellent end of year performance which takes place in July just as the Academy and third term come to an end. It is an excellent way of showcasing the talented students of our studios in front of proud family and friends.
“Just wanted to give you a little something to thank you for all your hard work! The show was just fantastic – we all loved it and were amazed at how well the children performed! Enjoy the summer”.
Then to reinforce just how good children and youth are, we provide a second end of year show testimonial,
“To all at the Academy. We were truly amazed at all the wonderful productions at the end of term show. What amazing performances by all, we realised how much hard work must go into producing these performances on a weekly basis and want to say a huge thank you for give S the chance to perform. He loves drama and when we saw him in the lead role in ‘Lazy Bones’ (which we didn’t know about until the night!!) we were so very proud that he had the chance to be involved and to enjoy the experience with all his friends. We were so proud. Many, many thanks”.
In a performance, one of the major tools used is the voice which is the most powerful tool in communication. That is why, in order for children to be able to express themselves in a clear, confident manner, it is so important to develop children’s communication and language skills through a variety of speech exercises from an early age. While we don’t subject the child to boring forms of elocution training, we do focus on the same end result, as we want the children to understand what constitutes really good speech. So we’ll cover the tasks such as projection, articulation, jaw exercises and exercises which focus on commonly difficult areas of pronunciation. We’ll also throw in little rhymes and poems for the younger ones so that it’s all done with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and involves physical actions as well.
Our curriculum follows a programme of structured learning and every single lesson is different, which is true throughout our programmes, from the three year olds right up to the youth and adults. This unique structured learning programme puts us in a league of our own and allows our children to stay with us for as long as they like, even throughout their entire childhood, without repeating a single lesson. To take part and become involved all you need to do is give us a call or send us a message/email.
